The automotive main computer is an electric computer which used in modernised automobiles to manage its electronic components. Reading real time data from sensors and transmitting output to the different components, the ECM alter the proper maneuvering of the vehicle.

This way, rather than handing out messages to multiple components from one detector, the messages is being delivered by the vehicle's computer to all the wired units that are interested in this data like the speedometer, suspension system, ABS and so on.
